Why Some Children Do Not Love Their Parents?

  • The bond of love and affection between parents and children is often considered inherent, which should not be the case. It is quite common for children to not love their parents.
  • The fact that children do not love their parents should not be taken too seriously. Children always establish an emotional relationship with their parents, unless there is an issue or problem.
  • Therefore, when you realize that your child has distanced themselves from you or expresses feelings of resentment or hatred, understand that there is a problem.
  • Reflecting Your Image One reason why your child may not feel any affection towards you is a process called “reflecting your image”. This means that the child reflects an image of your behavior and actions back to you. In such circumstances, the child does not learn to interact with the environment and the world around them with love and affection.
  • Different Levels of Abandonment Another reason why a child may not love their parents is abandonment. This means that the parents are absent from the child’s life, and the care and support for the child are practically entrusted to a third party. For example, the child only sees their nanny all day long and practically has no relationship with their parents.
  • Victims of Parents Sometimes children do not love their parents because they become victims of unhealthy family relationships, domestic violence, and abuse.
